Hard Minesweeper
Hard boards are 10 wide and 13 tall with 28 mines. Near the end, the number of mines still to find decides cells that no single number can, so keep an eye on the counter.
28 left
Hard puzzles need at least one of these techniques, and may use any easier one:
- Mine total
- The mines still to find are all needed next to the numbers, so the cells away from them are safe.
How to play
Minesweeper is a logic puzzle on a grid of covered cells, some of which hide mines. Open a safe cell and it shows how many mines touch it, counting all eight neighbours. Use those numbers to open every safe cell; flags help you remember where the mines are.
Every board here is no-guess: it starts with an opened area, and from there every cell can be decided by logic. Opening a mine counts as a mistake rather than ending the game, so you can carry on.
- A number counts the mines in the eight cells around it.
- Open every cell that has no mine to clear the board.
- Flags are only a helper; the board is solved once every safe cell is open.
- Opening a cell with no mines around it opens its neighbours too.
Playing on this site
- Choose Open or Flag below the board, then tap a covered cell.
- In Flag mode a tap places a flag, and tapping it again removes it.
- The counter shows how many mines are left once your flags are taken away.
- Hint points out wrong flags and opened mines first, then names the next technique and highlights where it applies.
- Your puzzle is saved in this browser, so you can come back to it later.
