Easy Sliding Tiles

Easy puzzles are 3×3: eight tiles and a gap. They are short enough to solve by feel, and a good place to learn how the last corner rotates into place.

How to play

Sliding Tiles is the classic sliding puzzle. Numbered tiles fill a square frame except for one gap. Slide tiles into the gap until they read in order, row by row, with the gap in the bottom-right corner.

Every puzzle here can be solved, and the levels are board sizes: from 3×3 at Easy to 6×6 at Expert. Hint follows the method people use, one row and one column at a time.

  • Only a tile next to the gap, or in line with it, can move.
  • Tiles slide into the gap; they are never lifted out.
  • The puzzle is solved when the tiles read 1, 2, 3 and so on, with the gap last.

Playing on this site

  • Tap a tile in the gap's row or column; every tile between slides one step toward the gap.
  • Tiles already in their home cell are tinted.
  • Hint names the step and shows where the next tiles go.
  • Your game is saved in this browser, so you can come back to it later.
